Letting-Go Buddha

On 14 October 2024, at 6:24 in the morning, at Pa Pae Meditation Centre in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the artist Lao Mu created a new Buddha for the world: the Letting-Go Buddha (舍念佛).

This Buddha was not unearthed from an ancient site, nor handed down through a sutra. It was created by the artist out of long meditative contemplation, founded on a deep observation of the human "five poisons": a Buddha of concept.
